About the 5k Race:

Registration Tables Open: 7:15am
Start Time: 8:00am for Kids 1k ages 4-12 (8-12 year olds can wait and participate in the 5k) 5k begins at 8:30am
Parking is available near Lakeview Pavillion in the park. This will also be the starting point of the race. Look for the signs.
To participate:
$25 for adults: 13+ (includes registration fee and t-shirt)
$20 for students (includes registration fee and t-shirt)
$15 for kids: 8-12 (includes registration fee and t-shirt)
No charge for 7 and under
What you may not know about Child Trafficking:
Trafficking in persons is modern day slavery. Victims are forced, defrauded or coerced into labor or sexual exploitation. It is estimated that trafficking generates around $32 Billion annually. This makes trafficking in persons the second most lucrative crime in the world. The majority of female victims are trafficked into the commercial sex industry.
Whether you consider yourself religious or not, evil is evil and that is something a growing percentage of this young population will not stand by and watch prosper. The reality when it comes to this specific injustice is that 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 10 boys in the U.S. are sexually exploited before they reach adulthood. Child trafficking, child pornography, and international sex tourism, because of the increasing market for it, now generates billions of dollars a year worldwide. Shockingly, the FBI says that there are 127 active brothels in Houston alone, with 2 new ones opening each month. So it’s no surprise to find out that Texas is a major hub for human trafficking, ranking second only to California. Interstate 10 has even been designated as the main route for traffickers by the Department of Justice and major cities in Texas are considered main trafficking hubs.
About Us & Love146.org:
We are a task force of students and professionals who desire to seek justice in the realm of human trafficking. We were presented with the cause about a year ago and were deeply moved. As a result we had a choice to make. We can do nothing or we can do something. Well we decided to move. We are comprised of 2 ministries Love In Transit (Austin Lit) and Northernpath. These ministries focus on raising up a generation of College Students to seek justice in Jesus name. Our hope is that this 5k race on April 2 will raise both awareness and funding for the abolition of child sex slavery and exploitation. We hope you join us.
